YES! A tough lesson for Missy's PRIOR owner...you just cannot walk away from your injured pet, leaving it to die a miserable and slow death,
just because it's not convenient to do anything about it. Hopefully he just pleads guilty and agrees to give up any claims to Missy in exchange
for further prosecution or jail time. Nice way to start the weekend, knowing that here in Colorado we protect the rights of ALL animals.

Nowadays, we have this "entitlement" layer that is being applied.

Scott and the crew that went up did the right thing in assisting the dog. They (and those chastising Tony) need to leave it there.

Some group mentality here seems to feel this is now needs some "more" in this situation.

The rescue group has the pics.

They have the praise.

They did the right thing...

What more do they need? Oh, right "more entitlements." They feel they are entitled to to a right to punish.

I'm sorry. No, you do not possess that right.

"Do for a cause, not applause."

You help people because they need it, not for your own reward...

You have been paid. You have your world's stage.

Sleep well knowing the rest of the country would hope some people would never offer assistance in the chance the "bill of entitlements" would be so costly as to lose a loved one.

Well, now, Scott and Amanda and the other 6 or 7 "good samaritans" went to do good, you ended-up vilifying one of your own.

Congrats!

You've take this to media-frenzy level and caused someone who shares the same love of the mountains as you, and caused a felony indictment.

Whats up over there in Colorado?

The nation just watched the fires in horror after the bleeding hearts wouldn't allow the clearing of deadfall and undergrowth ...

Now this?

if there is one thing i can contribute to, it is a strong suggestion that she be given a name other than "lucky"...this vet explains why:

on facebook she shared the story via huff post and had this to say:

"Here's some more amazing pictures of Missy's rescue from the group that brought her down. My ONLY complaint: PLEASE don't rename her Lucky!! NOoooOOOOOOooo"

And back to your regularly scheduled programming:

Image
- A mountain is not a checkbox to be ticked
- Alpinism and mountaineering are not restricted to 14,000 foot mountains
- Judgment and experience are the two most important pieces of gear you own
- Being honest to yourself and others about your abilities is a characteristic of experienced climbers
- Courage cannot be bought at REI or carried with you in your rucksack
