We should introduce him to Kafka...

Does he climb and drink beer? Kafka does not associate with riffraff...which would be all those that don't climb and drink beer.

    ... that is too funny, Scott. As my hubby says, "they're all psychotic". :wft:
As if none of us have ever come back with a cool, quasi-epic story instead of being victim to tragic rockfall, a fatal stumble, a heart attack, an embolism, a lightning strike, a bear attack, collapsing cornice, some psycho with an axe, a falling tree, carbon monoxide, even falling asleep at the wheel getting to a mountain. If you can't accept the fact that sometimes "s**t happens", then you live with the illusion that your epic genius and profound wilderness intelligence has put you in total and complete control of yourself, your partners, and the mountain. How mystified you'll be when "s**t happens" to you! - FM

Only 5.11 sport. I keep trying to tell him that's not real climbing, but he's a cat and just won't listen.
He makes up for it with his taste in beer though.

These are my cats, Boots is sitting in the corner and Fluffy is just looking around. Boots is pretty stupid, but I like her. She likes me because I bring her food, Fluffy likes me for me. I imagine Fluffy could make it up Sherman, he's pretty muscly while Boots is a fatty. Maybe someday he'll work up to Sawtooth.

- A mountain is not a checkbox to be ticked
- Alpinism and mountaineering are not restricted to 14,000 foot mountains
- Judgment and experience are the two most important pieces of gear you own
- Being honest to yourself and others about your abilities is a characteristic of experienced climbers
- Courage cannot be bought at REI or carried with you in your rucksack
