Re: The 14er.com dogs
Brisco, now a 9 year old Viszla, has 9 14ers under is belt (or more appropriately, collar). Great dog, lots of energy, so longs hikes are no problem.
Pic of him on the summit of his 1st 14er, Mt Elbert. Beyond climbing, he has me joined on thousands of miles of trail running.
Taking a break to get some water, and take in the scenery on a run thru Indian Peaks. He loves the snow as well, so is just as excited to join me when I snowshoe, as when I run or hike. Being a short-haired dog, he does get cold easily when not running around. So in winter, his jacket is a must. But also bring it along on climbs as well. As we all know, it can be windy and chilly on the top of a 14er.

My little girl is now 9 years old. She's summited over 50 peaks above 13k, she also has a few ski descents. Love her to the end of the world.

Mystic (foreground) has over 100 summits, a wonderful mountain companion. Fremont in the back is 4 years younger but already has over 35 summits and five state highpoints. They are my best buds.

The Rufster ROCKS!Derek wrote:This is Rufus. He was a mixed breed puppy rescue, just turned 2 years old last week.
To date, he has joined me on a total of 53 different summits. We plan on many more.

Mason is an 8.5 year old black lab. He's the reason I started hiking 14ers... he had untireable energy as a young guy. He's up to 30 14er summits and several 13ers along with uncountable hikes in Boulder. He loves the snow, water and adventure that comes with hiking 14ers. Though I can't say he's loved this years bouts with downed trees. He's an awesome companion and amazingly strong hiker and snow climber.
Mason on Wetterhorn Antero Princeton Love you big guy! Looking forward to more adventures.

My dog Miah is an 8 year old lab collie mix. She's only done 1 fourteener so far - Quandary back in June. She did great! I'm planning to take her hiking in the mountains more often, she absolutely loves it.

This is Levi... the most awesome dog out there (in our eyes!!). He's climbed more 14ers than I have (embarrassing!). Although it's his dad who takes him on more outings. They're great hiking buddies... but I like it when the three of us summit mountains together.

Re: The 14er.com dogs
Hi,
My name is Hank and I have had to post my own picture because the old guy that I hike with is too technologically illiterate to do it himself. He does take me hiking but his pace is pretty slow so I have to chase a few other things to keep myself in shape. I have learned that if I dawdle he calls and gives me a bisquet for a being a good boy. Boy, if he only knew. Today we haven't hiked at all because he's had his butt parked on the sofa reading some dog thread on this site. I hope to do a 14er sometime but his wife says, "over my dead body." I guess he might be a widow soon so I can claim a summit.

Gretel hasn't gotten up the nerve to try a 14er, but she found this vantage point above Squaretop Mountain Lake to view Evans/Bierstadt and the Sawtooth:

I don't own a dog of my own (frequent dog-sitter). Here's a photo of a dog I hiked Sherman with a few years back. Her name is Mickey. I just wanted to get in on the fun. :D
Mountains cast spells on me - Why, because of the way Earth-heaps lie, should I be Chocked by joy mysteriously; stilled or drunken-gay? Why should a brown hill trail Tug at my feet to go? Why should a boggy swale Tune my heart to a nameless tale Mountain marshes know?
