Maybe a different Chair Mountain than the one I'm thinking of.
I would like to get to Chair Mountain (12,721) that is south of McClure Pass, north of the Raggeds, but has difficult access issues due to private land north of the mountain.
As I understand it, if you know someone who lives in that area, and they grant you access, you can shorten the climb significantly.

Craig, Keith....thanks for organizing. These gatherings are lots o fun!

I am hoping to make it. My goal would be Hagerman...and possibly Snowmass Peak (not Mountain) on Saturday. (I can't climb Sunday but do plan to campout Friday & Saturday nights.)

It looks like there's approximately 4 to 5 of us interested in Hagerman so far. Nice!

I am looking at the South slopes route. This would have us gain the ridge somewhere around the Hagerman/Snowmass Peak saddle where we would then turn left & head on up to Hagerman. Anyone else interested in this route?

I would not recommend the south slopes route on Hagerman. It's a chossy, loose mess, only slightly preferrable to Snowmass' west slopes route. Dangerous? Not really. Fun? Not really. We ascended the SW ridge--solid rock, some air, a good scramble with the S-Ridge staring you down at left--then went down the south slopes, which was less than fun. You can easily drop off the summit toward the saddle you're targeting to get Snowmass Peak.

Does anyone want to carpool from the Colorado Springs area? I can fit 5 in my Silverado.

I would really like to finally make one of these gatherings, but I cannot commit yet. I would be interested in bagging Snowmass and Hagerman, may as well continue to work on my 13ers list while I'm there. I figure Snowmass one day and Hagerman the other, maybe even grab Snowmass Peak just for fun.

Britt, you are totally reading my mind. I have Hagerman at the top of my list and was already looking at that south slope. I would be happy to join if you don't mind adding to that list.

Tentative 2 here for the Snowmass "S-Ridge". From the springs... we'll hammer out the details as the date approaches.

The town of Marble will never be the same.
I've been meaning to mosey up Hagerman for a while...
I wonder if fireworks will be appropriate? I'd hate to get crosswise with the Marble sheriff.

The Gunnison County Sheriff is the "Marble sheriff".
Invisible he is. (In Marble at least)
He has to come out from Gunnison, 2-3 hours away, even at the best Sheriff speed.
He is usually there on Friday night of MarbleFest.
This Year????
There is no law enforcement in Marble, except the private citizen.
Maybe some crossover LEO from Pitken comes out in an emergency.
Pitken Sheriffs usually turn back on 133 when they reach 3;
but more likely they turn around at Redstone before the county line,
and they don't usually come into Marble.

Don't get me wrong.

Mountain Rescue Aspen is aware of the gathering. They may have representation.
