Bizarro Dislikes

Postby d_baker » Wed Jul 25, 2012 8:49 pm

"Darin, since you started the trend of bizarro dislikes, can you provide some insight by liking or disliking this piece of work?"
This quote/question comes from a recent TR posting.

I've come to realize disliking TR's for the fun of it (friend's reports, mostly Helmuts) is no longer fun for me since it appears to have become a fad among some of the 14er hiking whores.
Plus, the "for fun" dislikes may discredit the real dislikes that may matter most.
How or why Surf and his Boys could like the latest Bierstadt report baffles me.

Thumbs up, thumbs down.
Neither seem to do much good with the garbage.
Speaking of garbage, this post is pretty much that.

Have a good night.

(Matt, does that even come close to answering your question?)

I should have posted this in the 'conditions' page (mental conditions).

When you first disliked Helmut's report (which you were a part of), it was hilarious and pretty obvious (to me, anyway, to others?) where you were coming from. This may be because I know you all.
I asked that question because the piling on of trendy dislikes is neither hilarious (again, to me) or obvious. It's more like an inside joke everyone else has to see plastered across the trip report section for all to see but only some to get.

For the record, I couldn't care less about stopping this, don't have any more garbage to add, but really was just asking "WTF?"

It's designed to cause a "web stir".

Would this be the correct place to bring up the need for likes/dislikes on forum posts?

EDIT: in all seriousness, this new (well I guess it's not new anymore) PM system keeps screwing with me. Two or three times now I've posted in a thread when I meant to send a PM.

“There are two kinds of climbers: those who climb because their heart sings when they’re in the mountains, and all the rest.” - Alex Lowe

"There have been joys too great to describe in words, and there have been griefs upon which I cannot dare to dwell; and with those in mind I say, 'Climb if you will, but remember that courage and strength are nought without prudence, and that a momentary negligence may destroy the happiness of a lifetime. Do nothing in haste, look well to each step, and from the beginning think what may be the end.'" - Edward Whymper
