The insane question - ski recommendations?

Postby Mountainspirit » Sat Jul 14, 2012 6:59 pm

I've searched the forum for recent postings and came up with nada. I've got 21 consecutive months going and would like to continue the streak. I know this summer has slim pickings, but I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for central mountain/front range locations. Is St. Marys doable or is it too pocked out? Any info is greatly appreciated - thank you my friends!

The PNW? Or the Wind Rivers?

Good luck this year. I wonder about ptarmigan fingers/couloirs in RMNP? Or anywhere else in RMNP for that matter.

Yay! I was on SMG on July 4th (for the lols) and save for the optional steep section (lookers left from the lake was a sheet of ice!) it wasn't too icy, just bumpy and dirty. This dude at the top who was awesomely committed to year-round skiing mentioned Rollins Pass and Cameron Pass. I hope you find your line!

Thanks for posting this. I just got back from a trip to Breck but the storms turned me away from Quandary like I wanted to do.. But on my drive back to Boulder I was wondering this exact thing. Anyone been to St Marys post July 4? The photos I just saw from a trip report made it look like some rough snow.. Also -- read from June about Mt. Clinton, has anyone trekked up that way to see if there's anything left?

Two weeks ago, still looking pretty good. Didn't get much closer than this to check it out though.

I've been wondering about this, too... I wish I had time to hit the Pacific NW.

How's the hike up to that? I'm not super experienced... but I'm not far from Rocky Mountain, so I was thinking about checking it out on Friday.
