Trip Report Text Search Broken?

Postby GregMiller » Thu Jul 05, 2012 1:02 pm

I've been trying to search out trip reports, and have run into this problem:

1) I go to the "Trip Reports" page.
2) I select a peak (Little Bear) and hit "View Reports".
- The site returns 135 trip reports.
2) With Little Bear still selected, I type "subaru" in the "Search for text inside TRs" box.
- The site returns the same 135 trip reports, many of which don't have the word "subaru" in them.

It highlights the searched for word in the returned trip reports, but it still includes all the ones without the words, which is not the functionality described by the tooltip that pops up when you hover over the question mark.

Am I missing something here?

I've had the same problem and forgot to post. If you are searching trip reports with a word that might separate your planned route from the numerous irrelevant trip reports you still end up with the same number of irrelevant trip reports. For instance, I’d like to climb Harvard and Columbia from Frenchman Gulch. If I search the trip reports for Harvard entering a text search for “Frenchman” you would think I would end up with just the few trip reports that mention the word. No luck. 126 Harvard reports either way. Perhaps I’m doing something wrong but if the text search actually cut out irrelevant reports it would be extremely helpful.

So that's why my search for the Jim's Grove trail on Longs Peak turned up 199 TRs! I thought either I did something wrong or that trail is a lot more popular than I had realized.

Yep, I had the same problem when searching Bierstadt TRs for "Tour De Abyss." Trust me, clicking through all of the Bierstadt TRs looking for the select few TRs that actually helped was a pain in the a$$. Hopefully, this gets fixed soon.

Yes, I have experienced the same kind of problem when searching specific words in trip reports. I just thought it was my browser not working properly.
