This article says they're keeping the same permit system -- seven days a week -- for 2012:

I've done a loop Glacier Point - Nevada Falls. There is a fair amount of up and down topography between the two. It looks like this hike is 2.5 miles longer than Happy Isles - Half Dome round trip, so add an extra 60-90 minutes. That could put you on the summit later in the day with more storm chances. And a lot less crowds than on the Falls trail.

Glacier to Nevada Falls is fabulous. Much more scenic than from Happy Isles.
Illilouette Falls is a hidden gem and only flowing well at this time of year.
It is one of the first valley falls to dry up.
The Panorama Trail then leads you over to Nevada Falls. Great, unusual views.
And after a long day, I never relished the downhill hike out to the Valley.
If it adds an extra hour or so, I find it worthwhile.
