Microsoft Virtual Earth Links

Postby BillMiddlebrook » Sat Dec 23, 2006 11:22 am

I've started adding MS Virtual Earth links to the Route/Map pages in the Online Guidebook. Visual Earth is Microsoft's version of Google Earth and you don't need to download any software unless you want 3D views.

Look for the following button on the MAPS page for a given route: Image

Here's a sample route: Mt. Princeton
So far, I've added them for the Front Range, Tenmile, Mosquito, and Sawatch routes. More coming soon...

I thought I was kidding about real time flyovers. You're getting very close. Very impressive! Thanks a bunch.

Don't think I haven't researched the cost of renting a plane or chopper to get real route fly-overs. Not really cost-effective.

As the raw data for Google Earth and Virtual Earth gets more detailed, I should be able to create good ariel fly-overs in the future.
