Share your most beautiful photo

Postby dumbsocrates » Mon Dec 19, 2011 9:04 am

Help! I'm looking for ideas for a painting of Colorado's mountains, and my task is proving surprisingly difficult. I need a photo that I could use as an inspiration. And although I have plenty of gorgeous shots and looked through others on the web, I can't quite find what I am looking for. I thought someone here might help me out.

Here's what I'm imagining:

- snow-capped mountains;
- bottom to top perspective (so not a photo from the top but from the bottom looking up);
- a lake would be nice on the bottom and some trees (evergreens or yellow aspens);
- vertical orientation (but I can always crop);
- relatively large, so I can make out some details.

Much obliged.

Not mine, but you will find some amazing photography on Kane's site. This is one of my favorites.

It's hard to beat the Indian Peaks...

I'd have to add the snow to the peaks but nice! Let's see a few more.

Overdone, but the Bells are always a good choice...

Not Colorado, but it IS in the Rockies. The Many Glacier Hotel and Swiftcurrent Lake, with Grinnell Point. Glacier National Park.

I also had one from Glacier a few years back. This is Lake Sherburne right at sunset

I couldn't decide which I liked better so I'm posting two. Sorry. Great thread!
