Being inspired by some of Kiefer's previous photography threads, I thought it would be fun to see our members' aerial photos of Colorado's geography. Shots from the sky offer a unique perspective that I have really been appreciating lately. I'm an amateur photographer at best, but love flying this little Cessna 182 around Colorado's mountains as much as I enjoy climbing them. Here are some shots to start the discussion. Hopefully there are some other pilots around here who have the same passion, or some folks who have a keen eye and nice camera while flying commercially. Enjoy and please participate! Oh, and if there are other pilots or curious passengers on the board (which I know there are), let me know if you ever want to hook up for some mountain flying.

Mark -- this is how I post pics, perhaps someone has a more efficient method.
It is best to have two 14ers.com windows open, one to the main page and one with a reply to this thread ready to be typed. Start on the 14ers.com main page screen, make sure you are signed into your account, and click your name in the upper right corner of the screen. On the next page, click on the "Profile" tab. Once in the "Profile" tab, scroll to the bottom and click on "Add Photos." From there, the process to add photos is pretty self-explanatory. Once you are done adding a photo, the website will give you a URL link to that photo. Highlight and copy the URL link, then go to your other open window, which is a reply to this thread. Above the dialogue box where you type your reply, there is a horizontal selection of commands. For example, you can make text bold, insert a quote, etc. Click on "Img." When you do that, two objects will appear that look like this: [img]. Paste the URL you copied from the previous screen in between the two [img] boxes. Before you hit "Submit" it will just look like a URL between two bracketed comands, but once you press "Submit" your post will include your photo.
That was pretty longwinded...hope it makes sense and I especially hope somebody comes along with an easier answer!!! Can't want to see your San Juan shots.

I know exactly how you feel, but I would NEVER tresspass on City of Boulder land. Using the plane is a great way to become acquainted with the watershed and its topography, even though I would never hike the peaks there........

I was prepared. I intentionally chose a seat on the port side and was in first class, so no worries about sitting over the wing. I had a road atlas of Oregon with me and was following the route right down the Columbia. (The flight was ORD-PDX and we went right over Yellowstone as well.)
Another good airport for approach photography is JAC. Both sides will probably get some view of the Tetons, but starboard is better. No photos from that flight as we landed late in the day and I would have been shooting right into the sun
SEA is good too on a clear day, but I've never gotten as close to the Washington volcanoes as I got to Hood on that flight.
