Nanga Parbat Winter Attempt 8126 meters

Post by kushrocks »

If being the first guys to successfully climb Gasherbrum II, the first 8000meter peak in the Karakorum ever successfully climbed in winter, wasn't enough Simone Moro, Denis Urubko and Cory Richards just announced plans through North Face to make a winter attempt on 8126 meter Nanga Parbat also known as "Killer Mountain" which is the ninth highest mountain in the world this winter!!! Nanga Parbat has also never been successfully climbed in winter.

Here is a quick link

Cory Richards filmed almost constantly while climbing Gasherbrum II and created the short documentary film “Cold" which I am still searching all over the place to find. He was the first American to ever climb a 8000meter peak in winter.

Quick You Tube link for the trailer “Cold.” I get chills just watching this.

cory is freakin crazy...after almost dieing in an avalanche/serac fall on his way down gasherbrum he is back for more? Simply incredible...

on a side note, i was a bit disappointed by "Cold". I had high expectations after reading the story behind it and watching the trailer. I guess I was expecting a bit more from it. Then again it's got to be hard filming above 20,000ft when it's -50 degrees out.

No kidding. I wish them the best of luck with this upcoming project and hopefully everything goes okay. Corey will be speaking in Golden Thursday the 27th of this month talking about his winter climb of Gasherbrum II as well as his upcoming plans for his winter attempt of Nanga Parbat. Tickets are free for standing room $8 bucks for seats. Already got my ticket.
