I liked it! Good way to kill a few minutes at work before a few days off (and those off days include a trip to Colorado)
Climb the mountain so you can see the world, not so the world can see you.

Messner is definitely #1. They didn't even have space to list some of his more badass stunts, like soloing Everest and stalking the yeti. Messner is so badass that 5,000-year-old frozen mountaineers have been known to melt out of glaciers just to meet him.

Ice axes and crampons consider HIM a vital piece of equipment . . . he is, the most interesting mountaineer in the world.

Favorite line, and there were a few gems:
Joe Simpson wanted to give it a shot after a friend of his described it as a "challenging day out," partially because Brits are notorious for understating everything, and partially because mountaineers around the world are notorious for sandbagging the sh*t out of each other.
“There are two kinds of climbers: those who climb because their heart sings when they’re in the mountains, and all the rest.” - Alex Lowe
"There have been joys too great to describe in words, and there have been griefs upon which I cannot dare to dwell; and with those in mind I say, 'Climb if you will, but remember that courage and strength are nought without prudence, and that a momentary negligence may destroy the happiness of a lifetime. Do nothing in haste, look well to each step, and from the beginning think what may be the end.'" - Edward Whymper
