That's pretty interesting. I've never seen one either.

Mariposa (Sego) Lilies are common on the plains. Haven't seen them that high.

Thank you Aaron. I like your art. The Leaves drawing is fantastic and the awards are well deserved. Cheers.

As autumn approaches, I'm reminded of Mr. Morrison...

The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall
He went into the room where his sister lived, and...then he
Paid a visit to his brother, and then he
He walked on down the hall...

I edited the original post to include only wildflowers from 2012. When the peak season is over, I will change it back to "any date" for those who have some nice ones in their archive.

I know it's been dry, but I have seen some good flower shots. Looking forward to some beautiful photos!

There's plenty of columbines and other flowers on the way up Mount Ouray from Gray's Creek right now:

Not a flower, but there's a great bristlecone forest on the route as well:

Plenty of wildflowers on the Indian Peaks Marathon loop. Here's some Columbines in the valley below Crater Lake.

I've found several Mariposa Lilies on the exposed sections of the Crystal Lake trail north of Lake City in previous years. They should be out later in July.

Grizzly Gulch is a kaleidoscope of color already, and well worth a visit!

In sheltered spots around here the blue flag does particularly well:
