Wildflowers (2012 only please)

Postby Mark Curtis » Thu Jun 23, 2011 5:10 am

Modifying this thread for a few weeks......wanted to isolate wildflowers of 2012 for those who might be looking for any good locations in this very dry summer.

Looks like they're finally popping out. These are from yesterday along the Brookside/McCurdy and Ben Tyler trails. Sorry they are all single flower pictures..might not be what you're looking for.

Nice, Derek. Seeing those make me happy. They are the cherry on top of a much bigger cake.

Waterfalls and wildflowers...as Papillon says, these are great days we're livin...

...and this is just the start.

The photos of the Harlequin Blue Flag were taken from various locations around Mount Silverheels on June 18/19.

14ers and surrounding area...it's not a mountain scene but it's appropriate. Here are some poppies around the old 1874 Park County Courthouse in Fairplay.

Photo taken at 8:30 PM in a strong breeze. The lens was wide open (f4.5), ISO 400, with shutter of 1/40, hand held. The breeze and slim DOF created some out-of-focus elements up front but the photo still captures the mood...

The Wild Iris in the San Juans near Lake City last weekend were spectacular. No pictures, sorry.

I saw these along the roadside near Bonanza last weekend, and had to stop for a photo.

Derek (and everyone). No need to apologize. A broader view would be great, but the individual flowers are also very helpful. It's true I am trying to extract information here, but the idea also is to showcase your photos.....so whatever you have is great! Thanks again! =D>

The wild iris are strong this year.

One last before leaving for another beautiful weekend...

Nice! Some of these might be great additions to the Wildflowers section of the photo pages:

Calypso bulbosa -- the Fairy Slipper Orchid. It's one of only a few orchid species native to Colorado.
