pdf route problem

Postby groomden » Sun Jun 12, 2011 1:01 pm

Hi,

I downloaded this route pdf: http://www.14ers.com/routemain.php?route=holy1&peak=Mt.+of+the+Holy+Cross

It seems to have an issue with the route description text running off the page. I looked at the properties and the page size is listed as 8.27x11.69 which is a wierd one. Seems like 8.5x11 would be useful for Colorado.

i printed some other pdf's yesterday at OfficeMax and they said that they had to resize them to get them to fit properly on a letter size page. They siad they were set up for an A4 size sheet but should be a Letter sheet or ANSI A. Some of the routes i printed were:
Route #4) Torreys Peak - Kelso Ridge,
Route #1) Mt. Sherman - Southwest Ridge from Fourmile Creek,
Route #1) Mt. Democrat - East Slope from Kite Lake,
Route #1) Mt. Bierstadt - West Slopes,
Route Combo) Mt. Bierstadt - Bierstadt, Sawtooth, Evans.

Thanks for any insight you can provide into this issue.

Dennis

You're not crazy! I had the default print size set to A4, instead of LETTER (8.5 x 11")

Should be better now.

I'm still seeing a small problem with text running off the route description on the first page of the Holy Cross route.

Yeah, I've seen that behavior on a few routes. Must be a bug in the PDF generation software I'm using, triggered by some characters in the route description.

I'll try to get to the bottom of it.

Apparently the html-to-pdf software didn't like the degree symbol used in various route descriptions. I've fixed the problem.

thx

New problem -- topo map one is printing to the page edge, which can't really be printed. Also, the elevation profile is cut off before the summit.

Sorry to be a pain:(

thanks!
