Congrats to my mom - 1st 14er

Postby BobbyFinn » 14 Jun 2011, 22:16

Hey all - I just wanted to congratulate my Mom, Marilyn, on her 1st 14er. On June 4, Kate, my Mom, and I hiked up to the top of Mt. Evans from the upper parking lot - through a lot more snow than we anticipated. She did great! She lives in Chicago and didn't have any altitude issues. She recently overcame some serious health problems (I wont go into the details, but recently the term "complete remission" was used) and during her treatments I kept telling her that we'd hike something when she got better. So here she is!

After hiking to the top she understood better why Kate and I hike. When we got back to the car, she asked me when we'll take her on her next 14er hike! I think she's hooked!
Way to go Mom - I'm proud of you!

Props to Mommy Finn!
It's got to be nice to reverse roles and be proud of your mother's achievement.

Wow! That is way cool! Congrats to your Mom, Bob! It sounds like she's caught the bug. Pretty soon she'll be flying out every weekend to drag you and Kate up a mountain.

Congrats! Awesome accomplishment! =D> Love the pics :D

My mom has MS - we haven't taken on a 14er, but she's made it to 12K, and was very proud of herself - and I was proud and impressed, too!

Keep on keepin' on!

Her strength, faith, and determination have been inspirational throughout her fight and recovery. I felt privileged to share this accomplishment on Mt. Evans with her. Looking forward to more special moments on and off the mountains!
Well done, Mom! =D>

Well said Kate.

Congratulations to Bob's Mom (can we get a name?)

What a wonderful accomplishment! First and foremost with your health and now experiencing the beautiful mountains of Colorado.

May your health, strength, determination, and love from your family only continue to get stronger and stronger!

You rocked it Mom! =D> =D> =D>
