Front Range Mar 19-20

Postby Aaron2014 » Mon Mar 07, 2011 6:07 pm

Anyone interested in climbing somewhere in the front range this weekend? I was planning to head out there, but i'd prefer to join up with someone(s) instead of solo. If you need a partner or wouldn't mind having someone else join you then i'd probably join ya. ME: 25 yrs, male, I've got winter gear and medium experience level. Send me a PM or reply and i'll try to keep checking back.

Sent you a PM about this past, but I can't this coming weekend due to being on call.

Should have time available the following weekend if you do as well.

I'm hiking Mt. Lincoln from the Moose Creek drainage on Saturday the 19th. KeithK, Zoomie83, and Chris are likely to be on this trip. We plan to head up the drainage until we hit the ridge to the right of Mt. Bross' East Slopes, ascend the slopes until we hit the mining road, and follow the mining road to Mt. Lincoln. We were up there 2 weeks ago on Mt. Bross, and Lincoln looked pretty good from that side. We have one car load, maybe we could get another car pool if anybody is interested. Gas is too expensive to go solo!

I'd certainly be interested in going. Do you think we'd need snowshoes for it - or would microspikes do?

We needed snowshoes below treeline; trailbreaking was moderately difficult, but we didn't have to go too far in the trees. Microspikes would have been useful in some places above treeline, but I just booted it. I posted pics from Mt. Bross of FaceBook:

Sounds good. Yeah I'm down to go. My car is rear wheel drive, so I don't know about driving, but I'm happy to chip in for gas if y'all wanna carpool.

Found out I mixed up my on-call weekends. I've done Lincoln already so maybe I'll see about a winter climb.

What time you planning on heading up on Saturday?

I was thinking about meeting at the Morrison Park and Ride (across from the Conoco with the clock tower on the Hwy. 8 exit off of 470) at about 5:00. We started earlier last time, but it wasn't really necessary. We could probably still use a couple of extra people to fill up a second car.

Oh hey... found a group doing some 13ers I haven't done. Since I've done Lincoln, looking to join and do the 13ers.

Have fun on Lincoln this weekend!
