Are you coming to the Ice Day?

Postby centrifuge » Wed Feb 16, 2011 6:40 am

I am desperately trying to organize this, and since people cannot update the group climbing calendar, I thought I would make a poll and couldn't do it to the other thread. The date is this Saturday (and Sunday if interested) in Ouray. I will update the group climbing calendar as people respond :D

I will be going, most likley heading down Friday afternoon and leaving Sunday afternoon. I will bring a dry rope that can be used,I could bring along other rock gear if needed but do not know what would be needed, let me know.

I will most likely be there (barring unforseen work to be done). I don't have screws, but I have ropes and my own gear. I'll show up with whatever I think would be helpful.

I am going with my wife and another couple. We are bringing our kids who are too young to be climbing so we will switch out three climbers and one babysitter throughout the day. I am happy to have others join our group and I am happy to help out beginners (I teach ice climbing with the CMC for what it's worth). Feel free to PM me and I will be happy to give you my cell number if you want to track me down.

I'd like to come Saturday ... seeing as how I live in Gunnison I'll probably just drive up that morning and drive home afterwards (though I'll hang out for a bit at the end of the day).

I have climbed ice a few times before but never anything harder than WI 3/3+, and have no clue how to lead. I have a 70m dry-rope that I can bring if needed. However, I don't have tools ... I can rent them from my school if needed but seeing is how only half the people there will be able to climb at any given time, if there's going to be extras I'd just as soon not use the rentals. I can probably only climb 3 or 4 routes before my arms get pumped anyway, lol.
