Join us on Harvard Feb 18/19/20

Looking for a climber or two interested in summiting Harvard with a young beginner couple from Texas. This will be our 4th 14er, but first summit attempt in the winter. Weather didnt work out last time. My wife and I will probably stay on the mountain a few nights and would enjoy some company.

Will you be able to drive to the trail head?

March 18,19 and 20th should be a very helpful and informative weekend to learn more of winter climbs----I'll be there

Are you going to backpack in and camp up high?

I was thinking of camping at the summer trail head on the 18th, treeline on the 19th and summiting and returning on the 20th if the weather looks good. Would love some other climbers with a little more winter experience nearby.

Thoughts?

Takers?

Giarcd... Did you mean to say February or are you going up in March?

Do you have previous winter background?

My guess willl be you will be breaking trail to the summit so be ready for a harder hike. You on skis or snowshoes?

Is there a particular reason for choosing hardvard?

Not much winter experience. Just skiing.

We made an attempt at Harvard on this past new years eve, and learned a little that time. We tweaked some gear picks and would like to try it again. Wouldnt necessarily have to be Harvard though. We climbed Elbert, Massive and la plata so Harvard is in Line.

We are on snowshoes.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Well I wish you luck. Seems like you are seattled on climbing because it's in line. I think that you are going to have a hard time. Reason I say that is bbEcause there is going to be a lot of snow and unless you are taking sled yoou are going to have a lot of gear on your back. Deep snow aheavy gear and snowshoes can be fun.

make sure that you check caic for Ava conditions. I'm not the best person to comment on hardard Ava Conditions

Wish ya good weather, think about a bail plan for a differet group, like heading up to kite lake or something like that.

I feel like I have plans that weekend but can't remember so this could work. I'll talk to my wife and see if she'd like to come along too. We both work on the 18th but have 19-21 off. Ideally I'd like to hike in and set up high camp on 19th. Could potentially get both Harvard an Columbia. Hmmm.....
