Alpen glow on blowing snow
Not an amazing photo of it, but this morning the high level winds were ripping the snow off of Pikes Peak and the alpen glow really lit it up nice. Just wanted to share the photo I got:

Wow, I think those ARE actually amazing photos. IMHO if you cropped to the lower 1/3rd part to a panorama, that's a totally frameable / hangable shot. Very nice.

Not having a DSLR limited me in this. The top photo is a little washed out in the sky, and in the bottom photo the ground is just black. My camera just can't do both well and I didn't have a tripod to attempt to do HDR. It was still really cool to see this morning though with the wind carrying the snow that far. The winds up there today are averaging 43 mph with gusts up to 92 mph. Cool to look at but certainly not a place I'd like to be today.

Photoshop could do an HDR combo of those, they do not have to be identically composed (from a tripod) images for this to work. But I think either is just fine w/o trying to bring out the ground detail. Not having the full-rez images, I think I like the bottom one better, but whichever one is sharper is probably a better image to enlarge/frame. Good stuff, thanks for sharing.

I looked at Pike's early this morning and totally missed the reflection. Which orientation and time were you looking in???
That's some catch that catch 22

That was taken from Woodland Park at 7:13 this morning.

Well, I gave the HDR a shot. Usually when I do hand held shots the HDR turns out really bad. However these did line up OK, though the clouds in the sky were moving so they look weird in the composite results. Turned out kind of nice.
I do like the cropped version better since it gets rid of those clouds and drops a lot of dead space in the photo.
