Yale this Sat (11th) or Sun (12th)?

I'll be there for Yale on Sunday. I'm going to try and get to the trailhead at 6, and will be arriving in an older blue Subaru.

Saturday...high of 22 and 70% chance of snow...

Sunday is better but could depend on how much fresh snow is on the ground...

I'm thinking to go hiking tomorrow instead of Saturday.

I'd like to join in for Yale Sunday and Antero Saturday. That's if Sat. hasn't been scrapped 'cause of weather. I'll also be attempting Sherman Friday by the south slope route if anyone is interested. Hopefully on the trail by 7:30-8. silver f150

I'm definitely in, but only for Yale on Sunday. It looks like that far south the storm is only supposed to drop about 6" of snow, but I'm bringing my snowshoes just in case. Definitely the microspikes and ice ax. Better to be safe than sorry.

NotFromCO - You do know a storm is coming in right now, and the weather up there tomorrow may be not so great right, with about 6" expected above treeline in the Mosquitos by tomorrow night?

Thanks for the insite lemurtech. No I didn't know a storm was coming that way. I checked the weather link through Sherman's page and the forcast shows "just windy" for tomorrow, but maybe that's not accurate.

I'll be in for Sunday. Saturday looks like suicide. Driving up from Crestone but my low-clearance/2WD vehicle may have issues depending on the trailhead status.

I'm in for Sunday, too. I am Bill, I'll be driving a black 4door Jeep Wrangler with a 14ers.com sticker in the back window.

Oh wow. I didn't see how many people were planning on being up there until now, but I was planning on hiking Yale on Sunday as well. I'll probably start around dawn from whichever trailhead I can get to in 2wd (Avalanche unless the snow doesn't stick)

I'm doing Yale on Saturday

Mike, white forester, temporary plates. I should be able to get to the TH before 9pm. I'm coming from Trinidad. If there is a group leaving real early and a group leaving later (say 6:45 or so) I'll definitely be with the later group! If the last group is getting ready to leave and I'm still sleeping in my car come wake me up!!!

Yale on Saturday: "Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible."

Does "less than half an inch" really mean less than half an inch? With a rain or thunderstorm forecast you'd know it would be potentially much worse up high...how much does the same hold true for a snow forecast?
