Sawtooth HDR Photos

Postby CO Native » Fri Oct 15, 2010 11:53 am

A friend of mine likes to do some HDR photography and he just visited the Sawtooths. I really enjoyed the photos so I thought I'd share them...

Those are nice. It's cool to see HDR used in a reasonable fashion instead of this blown-out over saturated pastel paints thing you seem to see all over the internets. [/rant]

I could never achieve such smooth color balance with filters and polarizers with a single exposure.
HDR is like retouching the original.
Purists might not think it is kosher.
It can make an outstanding photo out of what may otherwise be unflattering.
But I like the result.
I gotta get me an Avatar.

I couldn't agree with you more. The majority of HDR images are bad attempts to use a technique where it shouldn't be applied. Like spending $500,000 on special effects for a made for TV movie about the lives of worms.

These images are a good example of well done HDR, though.

Sarcasm or not, it's not even funny to post something like this. Not at this time. Reported.

Those are some truly beautiful shots. I've got a permit for Coyote Buttes North - Wave formation in Paria Canyon in January and I'm hoping to be somewhat successful with my HDR attempt at that time...
