That's a great addition! We ascended the east ridge and, while it is definitely a steep scramble in places, it is way more solid than the standard route. We descended the standard and there was so much scree, little rock and a badly eroded trail in places. If I had to do it again I think I would go both directions on the east ridge.

I attempted this route on 7/3/2010. It was my first 14er attempt ever. I did not summit. It was very challenging for me - I was not prepared, I didn't have the right gear and I was basically alone to find my own path once we got above tree line. I posted a full trip report with pics a couple days ago.
