Your Uploads Organized!

Postby BillMiddlebrook » Fri Feb 05, 2010 5:00 pm

I just organized the 9,000 user photo uploads and created a new page making it easier to view photos by "category."

Some great stuff out there, check it out: Photos Uploads by 14ers.com Users The link is also available from the "Forum" section of the pull-down menu throughout the site. Or by clicking the "User Photos" icon on the home page (since that icon required a Flash change, you may have to clear your browser cache first to get the right link from that icon).

I like the sunrise/sunsets and wildflowers sections a lot. So many great shots.

And all of the photos that contain people or pets are now in one "People and Pets" category.

Yes!

Oh, and now the photo upload page (not trip reports) has a 12megapixel maximum, instead of 8mp.
Progress.

Are trip reports going to become that way? I have a 10 megapixel camera and resizing the 30 pictures in a big pain.

Unfortunately, not yet. Processing 30 (upload, resize, sharpen, etc.) all at once takes a lot of system resources so I have to do more testing. I'll look into it.
Sorry about that.

I did some system "stress" testing today with 12 MEGAPIXEL photo uploads on a trip report and think we might be able to make this work NOW.

I just change the max upload size to 12 MEGAPIXELS, from 8mp on the TR Add and Edit pages. However, I also added a pop-up alert on the TR Add page that asks users to only upload 10 photos at a time if uploading photos greater than 8 megapixels. This will reduce the changes of page errors, time-outs and stress on the system when adding a report.

I hope this makes adding a TR easier...
