TRIP REPORTS on the home page

Postby BillMiddlebrook » Thu Dec 03, 2009 1:33 pm

We can view recent Trip Reports on the 14ers.com home page - similar to the listing for recent forum threads.

To see the trip reports, click the "Display Settings" link on the home page and adjust the "Trip Reports on Home Page" setting. If your screen size doesn't allow you to see both trip reports and forum topics on the screen, you might try setting the "Photo Size" to "Small" in display settings.

Feedback is always welcome!

Nice addition Bill. It would be cool to also see the peak(s) that the TRs relate to. At the expense of truncating the TR title field a little if needed.

I love the idea but it is throwning my whole page off. Is there a setting to shrink the box that I dont see? Its coming up as a big square box as opposed to the skinny forum box.

Yup, I've been trying to get that to look right in a test version. Once I get it right, I'll update the home page.

Thanks!

Not sure what you mean. Is it just an issue of making the photo slideshow "Small" in display settings, so you can see more? Or does it look like a formatting problem? If so, what browser/version are you using?

Thanks!

I added the peak name(s), without links, for now.

I'm experiencing the same thing as Breckslider. Seems like if it was under the photo rather than next to it things would work better:

that's what we're all seeing, adding that column simply changes the centered look of the photo slideshow because it forces an even number of columns. I considered putting it under the slideshow, but that causes other issues. Plus, I may be adding another column of optional information to the right side of the photos.

I think it looks better now... I put the trip reports under the forum threads.

Using the Display Settings, the user has the option to see both forum entries or trip reports, or both. AND can still set the number of each to display.

Thoughts! You may have to refresh your 14ers.com home page.

Awesome! Well, maybe an issue. I can't kill as much time at work since you saved me a click!

to save space on the screen, it doesn't display the trip report authors when your screen size is set to SMALL or MEDIUM in Display Settings.

I'm not one to gush, but the changes over the past couple of weeks have been outstanding.
