Stevens Gulch Road -- Repair in progress

Postby MtHurd » Fri Sep 11, 2009 10:38 am

I climbed Grays and Torreys yesterday via Stevens Gulch Trailhead and on the way down there was a crew fixing the road (bulldozers etc...). They had gone about half way up so I don't know if they made it to the big holes in the road about half way up. They weren't done yet but it looks like they are going to fix it enough for passenger cars.

Yep. It was quite crowded yesterday even though it was the middle of the week. The weather was perfect.

Would it bother anyone if they charged $3 for parking like at Kite Lake? Might allow for some continuous maintenance and keep a few cheapskates off the mountain.
So pleas'd at first the towering Alps we try,
Mount o'er the vales, and seem to tread the sky,
Th' increasing prospects tire our wand'ring eyes,
Hills peep o'er hills, and Alps on Alps arise!

It would definitely bother some people, just on principle. Also, the lot only holds a fraction of the cars up there on a nice weekend day; the cheapskates could just park along the road like they usually do now.
