14er Routes + Google Maps

Postby BillMiddlebrook » Mon Dec 01, 2008 9:48 pm

I've added Google Maps on each route description in the Online Guidebook. Once on the maps page within a route, click the "Google Map" button to display a map that you can zoom through, select view types, etc.

Here's a sample: Longs Peak: Keyhole Route - Map Page

Soon, I'll be adding the annotated route lines to these maps.

I like that a lot. How about an overlay of the route on it?

I've started adding the annotated routes on the Google Maps. Check out the Quandary East Ridge Route for a rough sample - maps page, click the Google button.

hey Bill- Google maps is a great addition. Is there anyway you can get these routes to show up on Google Earth as well?

Once I get them all plotted in Google Maps, then I'm going to see what I can integrate into Google Earth.

Thanks!

Thanks!
I'm adding the maps with route lines now.
I've started at the top of the routes page and I'm working down the list, starting with standard routes.

I have the route lines plotted on Google Maps for each standard route.
Now, I'm working on adding .KML (Google Earth) files.

This stuff adds a lot of functionality to the route/map pages.
