Lackawanna

Post by Linda Jagger »

Has anyone been out to Lackawanna recently?? What would snow conditions be like? We are considering going out there this weekend. Looks like the trailhead is right on hwy 82, Independence Pass. I assume the road is still open?? Is that correct?

Yes, the two trailheads for Lackawanna on 82 are definately still accessible. If you start at the Upper Lake Creek Trailhead and take Roach's South Slopes route I bet most of it will be pretty dry given its southerly aspect. I'm sure the Northwest Ridge route from North Lake Creek Trailhead is fine too with just a pair of gaitors. It'll just be a bit snowier.
