Route Overview Maps + FLASH

Postby BillMiddlebrook » Sun May 17, 2009 1:24 pm

I've started to add overview maps on the main page for each peak/group route list. It will take me a few more days to get them all out there, but I'm done with the Front, Tenmile and Mosquito ranges.

I like this alot. I have a suggestion for the site. After reading Halfway to Heaven I thought it would be cool to have a history button on each peak that would give some background on each peak. Thanks for all your hard work on this site.

These are nice, Bill. I really could have used one last weekend (couldn't find the trail in upper Missouri Gulch under the snow).

Thanks for adding them!

These print out pretty well. On 11x17 paper they print out to about 9"x10", can read all of the text and lines very good. Was about to order some USGS maps for the summer, but heck, might as well save the money and just print some of these out.

Don't forget that these are just consolidated, overview maps. Each route on the site still has it's own topo map with the route drawn on it.

Good job. I'm always pulling up my GPS program to figure out where the trail head is from the summit.

What I like about this is not only seeing all the routes in one place... but it shows the routes on a larger area map. So it's kinda a hybrid of the route map and the area map. Thanks Bill.

Adding FLASH versions

Postby BillMiddlebrook » Tue May 26, 2009 12:59 pm

I'm creating Flash versions of the Route Overview Topo maps.

Here's a sample

Move your cursor around to highlight routes. I will eventually change it so you can open the routes when you click on them.
