I have high speed when I'm in Houston but dial up in Colorado. Dial up is very painful but I change the settings to low band width to get around the slow speed. When it becomes necessary I drive 30 miles to Saxy's Cafe in Basalt Colorado to use their very high speed WiFi. It would be nice to have a dialup sans all the eye salad with only text but I have gotten around it. Thanks Bill for trying to fill the needs of the dialup crowd but it appears that most now are very fortunate and have high speed access.

The DVD is a pretty cool idea, I think.

A suggestion for those traveling could be to save the entire route page for a peak to your laptop's hard drive (assuming you have a laptop) before leaving. This would allow you to review the route beta for any routes you might be doing one last time before you take off.

Or you could just carry your laptop up the peak with you. Maybe that will be the new thing.
when the moon first rose tonight, my eyes were met with such a beautiful sight. a feeling deep inside so hard to explain, so familiar yet impossible to name. this is the place where dreams come true, a part of me and a part of you. this is where our spirits fly, on beams of light across the sky...and i'll meet you, in the valley of the full moon. as bright as the sun, in the middle of the afternoon.

We have dial-up at home (get it free through DU), have high-speed at work. I usually do most of my visiting of 14ers.com during work, so it doesn't present much of a problem.

it is a series of glass tubes with laser beams transporting the data. Fiberoptics. I don't think any of them are square. [-X

Fwiw, according to my google stats for my own site, only 2.5% of users have dialup. But, 25% is unknown what they're using. Cable, DSL, and T1 combined represent over 70%.

I'd be surprised if it was that low here but if it is, that's still 500 dial-up users on a summer day when we have about 20,000 unique users on the site each day.

I'm sure glad I don't have it.
