Viewing 14ers.com with a cell phone

Postby BillMiddlebrook » Wed Feb 06, 2008 9:38 am

If you sometimes access the 14ers.com home page using a mobile device with a small screen (cell phone, pda), here's a more streamlined 14ers.com home page:

http://www.14ers.com/s.php

It gives you all of the menus and recent forum topics without the large graphics, etc...

That will help with cell phones and PDA's for sure..

The Apple Iphone, puts out a full screen web page.. Awesome! The 14ers site works great with the Iphone..
On my first take-off, I hit second gear and went through the speed limit on a two-lane blacktop highway full of ranch traffic. By the time I went up to third, I was going 75 and the tach was barely above 4000 rpm....
And that's when the Ducati got its second wind. From 4000 to 6000 in third will take you from 75 mph to 95 in two seconds - and after that, Bubba, you still have fourth, fifth, and sixth. Ho, ho.

THANK YOU!

VERY nice. 90% of my 14er.com surfing is via cell phone, this makes it much easier.........

Eventually, I'll change the rest of the site to detect that you're on a cell phone and limit a lot of the formatting, like the header bar at the top.

More to come...

Yup! And this one won't aggravate my arthritis when trying to hammer out a text message.

Thanks Bill - now I will be on the site during meetings as well. P.S. Anyone in the market may want to look at the VX6800 (Windows Mobile) at Verizon. Excellent graphics, touch screen, full keypad, etc. No, I don't sell them....

It looks great on my iPhone too Bill. I know there is a little piece of code that will allow you for there to be an icon on my iPhone, not sure exactly how to do that. But I would be happy to assist and test if you would like.

Thanks again for now making me want to be in CO even more.

Thanks, Bill - It works great on my Palm Treo. Now I can read trip reports while driving! (Not really. I wouldn't do that) 8)

Treo, Windows, the iphone.... How about a little love for the greatest smartphone of all? The site has always worked great on my BlackBerry! Thanks for making it work even better though Bill!

I've also added code to detect mobile devices and NOT display some of the extra graphics on certain pages.

I hope not!
I was thinking it would be more helpful for that bored passenger during a car-ride to the trailead. Looking up information when a computer is not accessible...
