I'd like to thank everyone for the kind words and congratu ... Oh wait, wrong finisher thread. #-o

Marcia, Congratulations on your trek through Colorado's highest peaks and through your own life journey. I really enjoyed planning and hiking Mt Democrat together and I am amazed at the generosity of our group of friends (seriously, you guys are awesome!). I look forward to hiking with you in the future and hanging out at Happy Hours in Denver.

It's easy to think these days that finishing the 14ers is easy because it's such a common occurrence - but the fact is - they are tough and require a lot of skill, commitment and suffering. So congrats on sticking with them and finishing.

I know for you the journey was much more about finishing for Gerry - I know that final summit must have been an emotional one. I'm sure he's very proud of you - as are the rest of us.

I hope you're now on to some other cool projects, adventures and experiences...

I didn't see your thread either... Not sure if you remember this, but about a week after i joined this site, you sent me a message when I knew only about 3 people in this state. You welcomed me to Colorado and said it was great to have another PSU alum on this site. Flash forward a year and a half to last summer, and you were once again a great friend when everything happened at the end of last summer. I'm not sure I ever said thanks. So thank you.

CONGRATS on your accomplishment!! You now can do all those things you want to do without the "checklist" holding you back :). Lets get out again soon and/or drink a beer or 7 and watch Penn State beat up on the Big Ten.

I know finishing meant a lot to you. I'm glad I could be there on this hike with such a great group. Way to go on this accomplishment!!!

As requested:

1/2 Cup Butter
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
2 Tablespoons honey
2 Tablespoon brown rice syrup or corn syrup (I used agave amber)
2 1/3 cup quick oats

Grease 8x8 pan

In a sauce pan combine butter, brown sugar, honey and syrup. Stir constantly over medium heat until melted, dissolved and smooth.
Remove from heat and add oats (I added coconut and pecans too).

Stir well until oats are coated. Spread into 8x8 pan.

Bake at 350 for 22-28 minutes. Cool 5 minutes and cut into bars. Cool for another hour in the pan and remove bars (Don't wait to cut the bars or you'll have a crumbly mess).
