After reading that article, I think I would be far more worried about being eaten alive by vultures. If they are desperate enough to take out a live cow, I probably wouldn't stand a chance. I assume that farmer didn't just stand by idly watching.

There are some places in the Everglades where they warn you about vultures eating the plastic parts of cars like windshield seals, etc. Sure enough at my first stop a couple years ago there were several dozen vultures circling the parking lot. The sign says they go after cars parked in the shade first. And when I returned from the hike there was a bunch feasting on a car in the shade. They are so used to humans that they ignore people shouting at them. Someone has to beat them with a stick to get them to leave.
