Sounds like some kind of cat to me. I've heard lynx make similar noises when calling for mates. Also, it would have to be a bigger animal to shake a chain link fence, fox aren't that aggressive. Golden is excellent lion habitat.

Over the winter, I hiked up into Apex...on the main trail, within 100yds of the toll road sign, there was the carcass of half a deer..assumed a mtn lion had come down that far which freaked me a bit!
