After reading about him for years, I feel very lucky to have met Horton part way up the mountain on 4/1/2011. He said hello to everyone in our group. Condolences to his family. :(

What a great story. He joined my group for my first 14er ski descent top-to-bottom in Feb 2005. I remember him biting my skis off the top. RIP Horton. +1 for the plaque

That breaks my heart to read this! I also feel lucky to have met him on a Quandary climb, and it makes me happy to know he squeezed in one more hike before he passed on.

Sad news. I climbed Quandary with him back in the early days. His owners even left a note on my truck to let me know that Horton wasn't lost but was instead just joining his hiker friends for a quick trip.

He'll be missed for sure... :(

I would consider breaking sobriety if they did! We'll miss ya Horton.

Life's journey is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, "HOLY s**t!!...WHAT A HELL OF A RIDE!!!!"

Anyone have connections to the brewery? Maybe a Horton's English (Labrador) Porter to mimic Avery Ellie's Brown. Also, any clue if he passed along his climbing bloodline? Maybe there'll be a Horton Jr. on the trail one of these days.
