Helmet cam SAR mission

Postby crossfitter » Sat Dec 04, 2010 11:54 am

I ran across a pretty interesting video of some SAR badasses doing their thing. I thought many of you might enjoy it:

- A mountain is not a checkbox to be ticked
- Alpinism and mountaineering are not restricted to 14,000 foot mountains
- Judgment and experience are the two most important pieces of gear you own
- Being honest to yourself and others about your abilities is a characteristic of experienced climbers

Pretty cool and thanks for posting that. Another great example of why I am appreciative for what SAR does day in and day out!

In my opinion, all SAR volunteers are heroes -- even when they don't have to manage as difficult a rescue as this one.

About a year ago, Charlie had the unfortunate opportunity to need SAR, and the fortunate opportunity to have the Ouray Mountain Rescue there to demonstrate a textbook-perfect rescue. We are eternally grateful!

I can't say enough thanks to the fabulous heros that are members of SAR. Thanks for posting this. Can you imagine the rescues in horrible weather and tough terrain that these guys venture into. Thanks again.
