Baffin Island Expedition

Postby Scott Rogers » Tue Mar 23, 2010 10:03 am

Some friends of mine are soon departing on a climbing/BASE jumping expedition up to Baffin Island. Many local Coloradans will be on the expedition. They are looking to do some difficult first ascents and then jump from the summits. I just wanted to share an article about the expedition in the Denver Post today.

Also check out the expedition website if you have a chance:

I'm stoked for these guys! Wish them a safe trip.

I've never been up to Baffin Island myself, but I'd like to get up there one day.

Baffin Island has been high on my list of places to visit for a while. There's certainly plenty of monster cliff faces for them to jump off up there. I found a company a while back that runs backpacking trips up there but they are most definitely not cheap. Considering the logistics of the place it's understandable. The website isn't working that well but I want to check out the photos from home later.

Cool. Baffin Island is a place I've always wanted to go. Maybe I just missed it in the website, but how are you getting there? Are you flying in Iqaluit?
I'm slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.

Badass. Good luck to these folks. Another line on my list. As far as base jumping goes, it is faster and more intense than skiing on the descent, so long live it. Good luck.

That expedition website is badass. There are some great pics and videos there. Now Baffin is on my list of places to see at least once in a lifetime. I wish them the best.
