My guess would be a Toyota Highlander with a stuck throttle clipped the deer taking off it's leg, and continued on up until it ran into Big Foot, running over his left big toe as he was crossing the trail. The noise you heard was the bigfoot jumping up and down in pain, cursing the Toyota. :D
