N. Halfmoon Creek
Can anyone give me an idea of what a class 4 out of 6 looks like for access to a trailhead? I have the option of taking a 4 runner or a Rav4 to the N. Halfmoon Creek Trailhead in order to climb Mt. massive and Mt. Oklahoma. Just wondering if both vehicles could make it safely without tearing them up. Thx!

You should be fine in either vehicle.
I took a Chevy Silverado up there, no problems - it's an easier 4WD access, IMHO.
If I remember correctly, also saw a Subaru up there.

If you're talking about the trailhead for the SW slopes I would think you'd want the 4Runner. The first Massive trailhead is a piece of cake.

Just came back from there today. Saw many types of vehicles at the North Halfmoon TH including a Chevy Traverse which surprised me a bit. There were both a CRV and a RAV4 parked just below the last half mile to the TH. People probably didn't want to push it. I think either could have made it though. The only thing that may want to push you towards the 4Runner is the fact that there has been so much rain lately that the true 4wd may handle the final stretch just a bit better.

IMO, the rating is incorrect. I got up to the trailhead in my 01 Honda Accord (6.2" of clearance) with the only minor difficulty being a steeper portion a short distance after the turnoff. Both vehicles will be able to get to the TH.
