I-70 closed both directions Frisco-Silverthorne. Looks like 3-4" at tunnel elevation.

I am thinking either this or just Bull Hill on Sunday. Given the conditions, I decided to come up just for Sunday (driving down there on Saturday).

As alternative we took 285 from Denver to Twin Lakes no traffic. We zip through no problem, NO SNOW!

I-70 WB reopened at Silverthorne but closed both directions at Vail now.

I know everyone will have a great time and I can't think of a better way to remember and honor Steve! Be safe.

You should come hang out with us at the trail head after . . . just saying.

I know...that's what Britt and I talked about; too hard with the surgery. :(
Rise and grind. Every day.

Anyone hiking anything tomorrow and looking for a partner? Don't mind driving 2-2.5hrs from Boulder.

For those who decided to come out to the Fall Gathering in spite of the storm on Friday, we were treated to a great Saturday in the mountains.

5 of us hiked the Echo Canyon route up to Bull Hill….Otina, Matt, Ryan, Lynn, Britt and Matt (green hat) who showed up just right after we arrived.

Unfortunately, our group got to Mt. Elbert a little late and missed the others. However, we still honored Steve Gladbach on the summit with our pictures of Steve on his final climb up Thunder Pyramid.

Thanks Britt for all your hard work in organizing this gathering! I think Steve would have been quite proud to see so many people coming together to climb and enjoy eachother's friendship. We had a great turnout despite the traffic issues and weather that made it a bit more challenging to attend.

Great to see some familiar faces again, and meet some new friends!

Onwards!

It looks like someone left some mittens at the campfire last night.

PM me with your address and I'll mail them to you.

At the Fall Gathering, a few of you asked about contributing to the Steve Gladbach Mountaineering Training Fund. You can do it here:

Brenda Porter
Operations Director
Colorado Mountain Club
710 10th Street, suite 200
Golden, CO 80401

Please put in the memo: Steve Gladbach Mountaineering Training Fund

(Sorry I didn't "pass the hat" at the gathering. I decided for integrity purposes, not to have any funds go through my hands.)

And a hearty thank you to all of you who have made a donation on behalf of Steve. We are hoping that we can have occasional events like this to bring in support to keep the training classes that will be coming, ongoing.

All,

Bigtrout(Bill), Maverick Manly(Prakash), and myself had a great climb to the summit yesterday. We arrived at about 11:00 and met Eric at the top. It was cold and windy so we did not stay long. Sorry we missed the group coming over Bull Hill. Thanks to all that came out to climb in Steve's honor. Next year's trip will be great.

Matt
