I'd be interested. Couldn't share a ride as I'd be coming from the south. I imagine I'd camp at the lake one night. I'll call.

I'll be up there with a friend for Challenger/KC on 7/13. We're camping at the lake on friday night for a likely 5am start on saturday. I imagine we won't be the only warm bodies up there this summer weekend. You're welcome to join us if we match your pace.

DrHansen, sounds good. Looks like we have a pretty good crew heading up.

Dillon, the lake is spectacular. I might just head up there again. Screw 2 summits.

Heading up to Willow Lake Aug 1st for an overnight, hopefully 2 peaks the 2nd, back to camp for one more night, hike out on the 3rd. Would be interested to hear from any of you overnight campers exactly what area you recommend to set up camp and about how long it took you to hike in from TH to said camp. Safe hiking everyone!

No such thing as Crestone Lake.

Getting to Willow Lake campground takes 2.5 hours with a day pack or 3 hours with an overnight, for someone in good-but-not-great shape. Hm...that's from the alternate trailhead...might be 5-15 minutes less from the main TH.

Camping at the campground just below Willow Lake is generally recommended. You can camp above the waterfall...it's a lot more exposed to weather, there's less mosquitos, and a better view.
