Anyone want to join for some final winter peaks?

Postby Dancesatmoonrise » Sun Mar 10, 2013 3:21 pm

Hey, got the last week of winter off. Planning to hit a few peaks. Would love some company.

Possibilities:
San Luis (prefer the N approach, skis, but flexible)
Sneffels
Wilson Peak
Wetterhorn/Uncompahgre (thinking skis might be best but flexible)
Handies (if avy conditions stabilize enough)

Possibilities with the right partner:
Crestones (maybe Monday or Tuesday the 18th/19th?)
Capitol or something in the Elks (if avy conditions are looking particularly good)
Centennials near any of the above 14ers
Remote possibility, but would totally be down: Chicago Basin

I'd be happy to safely summit one or two more peaks this winter before it's over.

If I could come out by the end of calendar winter, I would be up to join you! With that said, if you're still open to *early* Spring, I might be available, esp. for Sneffels.

I'd be down for anything that's a class 1 2 or 3! It'd have to be a weekend trip for me too. Gotta earn the bucks in the city during the week

Alas, I've had something come up at work so a planned attempt on Jagged this week has fallen apart, even though this is the best stretch of good weather I could possibly imagine in the San Juans. As a consolation prize, if anyone is interested in trying Teakettle (class 5, but short) this Saturday, please ping me. My long time partner had to bail due to work reasons, and the weather this week/weekend looks fantastic...so far. I have the gear, just need some folks who are reasonably avalanche savvy.

I could take the time off to do, whatever - with delight. Although, I don't have a pair of skis. I could probably borrow a splitboard, which I'm guessing will be a little slower.

I don’t mean to highjack the thread, but would anyone be interested in doing Humboldt Peak next week? I am seriously thinking about giving it a go, (hoping for a ski descent), with the ideal schedule of leaving Boulder/Denver Tuesday 3/20, camping overnight, and hiking/returning Wednesday 3/21. The weather and avy danger will be the final say on whether or not I go, but I would love to have an avy savvy partner come with! If it makes the difference, I would be willing to head down Wednesday and come back Thursday as well. PM me if interested. Thanks!
