I am in, but probably can't carpool, as I'm heading further west after the weekend

Edit: just got a recomendation from a freind who has done the Roost, he recomended me to do Alcatraz on saturday and Larry on Sunday. Wear old clothes that can be thrashed into Alcatraz.

So, who else is in for Alcatraz ? Scott, I have heard that you know it well...

I'm still planning on attending. I don't know the Roost well at all and I look forward to checking it out with everyone.

more info from a freind: Alcatraz may require a wetsuit and is scrapey.
beggins with an overhanging rappel of a car bumber into the canyon.

FWIW: Alcatraz is definitely in my top-5 all-time canyons. Yes, interesting start. Park your truck sideways to the rim! 150', single strand, 8mm rope rap, right off my trailer hitch. Fun! Nice and tight and dark, Alcatraz. It was bone dry when we did it, but of course conditions vary wildly.

Bumping this up one last time.

All the information needed is on the front page.

PS, the weather looks absolutely perfect:

Just a quick conditions report from last weekend... we did 5 slots in the North Wash area, fairly close to robbers. Rained a ton on Friday 10/12 (though we still got two small slots in), this yielded some very wet slots on saturday and sunday, meaning three full swim potholes in one particular slot (adobe swale), but mere wades (from knees to nipples) in the others. should dry out / soak in a bit this week for y'all, I would hope. Have fun!

We had some swimmers as well in Dragonfly Canyon (Arches NP in Moab) yesterday in a normally dry canyon as a result of Friday's heavy rains. Chilly, but fun.....just go prepared with some warm, dry clothes for after the swims. Have a great time !

Is anyone else going out Thursday night? If not, I'll show up Friday night instead.

Well, I think I'm out... really bummed about it too, since this sounded like a great weekend to get out with you 14'er-canyoneer types!

Unfortunately we just got back from a family-related trip to the midwest (for my brother's wedding), and Amber came down with a really bad case of pneumonia while we were there. As such, I doubt she'd like it if I dropped her into a remote desert canyon this weekend, or abandoned her to do so myself (I'll certainly ask her about it, of course, but I think the answer might be a bit predictable at the moment, since she hasn't left the couch in two days).

Anyway, have a great time out there! We'll be there next time, I hope!
