Okay, thanks! You wouldn't happen to have any photos of the south side of KC or the summit of Challenger by chance? Also, how low was the snow line on the approach and how are the OB and Kirk looking in terms of stability/coverage? Thanks in advance,

Ben

I do have some pics I will post here.

Snow line was higher than I thought it would be....I didn't hit real snow till the headwall on the way to the lake. Then it got deep through the trees....but up higher it was all blown off. No shots of the south aspects.....just west and north.

From the 2nd pic, it looks like Kirk Couloir on Challenger might be continous? Was there snow from the Challenger summit down to the saddle with KC?

Man, it looks like mid-November up there. From the CAIC:

"A forecaster in the area last Thursday reported a very thin snowpack. Trailhead access is easier than it has been in years for March. Researchers in the area estimate the snowpack to be around half of normal."

And the Sangres are already pretty thin on a "normal" snow year. Looks like without a decent sized (or two) storm in April or May the Sangres might be OUT this year. Bummer.

Could you imagine the Sangres with 4-500" a year? Then they'd really be our version of the Tetons. I hate seeing them look like they do this year.

oldschool,

Did you get up there last weekend? Get any of the pics requested by benners? Interested to see coverage of Kit Carson up top. Thanks.

I might be heading up there on Friday.
If I do, I'll take some shots and post em'. Though KC and Chall are not my objective's (Pt.13,546, Mt. Adams & Pt.13,143 are).

I may be heading there, too, but not sure yet. My objective would be to ski Challenger (Kirk couloir) but wouldn't turn down a climb/ski of Adams. Trying to decide between this area and Lindsey...
