I'm bringing snowshoes, poles, ice axe, and micro spikes.

Cool, I think I'll bring my shoes and prob ice axe too to assist on a nicer glissade. I really need to get a pair of them microspikes. Def need to get before next winter.
The mountains are calling and I must go.

Hey all,

Have you seen the weather forecast for Sunday...90% chance of snow and the winds are going to be outrageous. If the forecast stays like that I may bow out. I'm not going to be driving on I70 with blowing snow that's for sure, that just gets plain nasty. I will keep everyone posted.

See you Sunday!

I was up on Berthoud Pass today. The snow was pretty heavy below treeline... not powdery. With snowshoes, no worries. Without snowshoes, you'll sink in good. Very sticky, just about sucked my shoes off a couple of times when I tried it.

Above treeline, I didn't even need microspikes for most of the hike. However, I did get ice-crystal-blasted pretty good by the winds. It was warm enough that the temperature wasn't bad, but I had my goggles and balaclava on just to protect my face.

I expect James will have similar snow conditions.

-- For whoever was asking about the route up to Flora and neighbors, you could do the road up Colorado Mines without snowshoes and save the weight (though that could change with a little more snow this week) -- but the direct route to Flora would definitely need snowshoes.

I'll keep posted. If it is going to be snowing and that windy, that doesn't sound fun. Anyway, I'll check in tomorrow and see how we all feel.

The weather forecast is still at 32° with winds at 25-49 mph with gusts of 75 mph and 1-2 inches of snow accumulation. Thoughts?

I'm game as well. Depending how conditions get, we can always turn around early if necessary tomorrow, but for the time being I'm up for giving it a shot
