Are you parking at the 2WD parking area and hiking from there?

That would be the only option this time of year.

Yeah, last time I went up there in winter the snow got deep pretty quickly above the 2WD TH. The last trip report I saw said that there was a trench all the way through the trees, but there has been snow since then. Trail breaking might not be too bad.

Dear GOD is that early.

I'm tempted to hike up to the 4WD TH Saturday to camp just to get some extra sleep time!

I may join, gotta figure out someone else's plans before I can commit.
Derek, how are you not used to early starts by now? :P

I'm about 90% sure I'll be joining. This will be my first winter 14er attempt. Is there any concern for avalanche on the route we will be taking, will I need to bring avy gear?

Thanks, Eben

If you got room, I may try to join you. Camping the night before sounds like it might be a good idea if I can get my stuff together.

Just need to get permission from the boss now.

Derek has a new tent. No way would he sleep in his own bed!

Snowshoes will likely be needed, microspikes if you like em. I'll be bringing both.
Crampons negative.

By the way, change of plans, I will no longer be camping at the TH. I'll be coming with greenhouseguy morning of.

Are you interested in carpooling up. I live in Evergreen and could meet you at the park and ride at I-70 and Evergreen Parkway.
