January Quandary IV

Postby Alby426 » Tue Nov 30, 2010 6:03 pm

OK, here we go again, for the 4th year in a row: Let's go up Quandary in January!!!! \:D/
The last two years were on fantastic days with many of you guys (over 80 in 2009 and over 40 last year).

This year, I was planning on going Saturday, January 15th of 2011 Weather permitting.

I will contact the weather gods and try to convince them to give us a good day!

I may even go up there the evening before and camp out.

So, who is interested?
My duty, as a human, is not to take, but, to give!

Last year we had awesome weather. I hope that the weather on the 15th is just as great. I will be spending 5 days on a caving expedition just before this trip, so I'll be ready for some high altitude, above ground fun! :D

I did this mountain on January 31, 2009 and it was great fun. I'm putting it down on the calendar!

When climbing every mountain you will reach a point when you can turn around, once you reach his point you just have to keep on climbing.

Can't wait for January Quandry-'Frank' has told me alot about the trip last time and i can't wait to do it! It looks like a lot of fun. Camping at the tril head or somewhere closeby (or on the mountain) would be alot of fun aswell. Can't Wait :!: :D

Look at every setback, failure, and time you feel down in your life as a temporary, fixable condition. That is how you never give up and keep moving onwards.

I'd love to return to the west ridge and try it in true winter (weather permitting). Taking Monte Cristo creek (not to be confused with Cristo Couloir) for a longer approach to the ridge seems like a much safer route for avy-danger than the standard basin. I'm not well versed in avy danger yet, but plan to take a level 1 soon. Do any more experienced folks have thoughts on the safety of a west ridge attempt?
