Re: Fatality on Longs' Keyhole Route
Prayers for his family and friends - so sad to hear.
You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know. - Rene Daumal

Wow. Horribly sad.
Re: Longs Peak Keyhole Route - Closed Friday?
Sincere condolences to the family and friends of this fallen climber. In the mountains, we're all family and we remember those who have passed with each summit we gain.

Re: Fatality on Longs' Keyhole Route
I think it would be prudent at this point to establish both a condolences thread and an analysis (speculation) thread to differentiate these comments, as this is in the Information category and not in the memorial/accident categories. I'm confused about the OP's intent here as the edited post is strictly to inform us of the route being closed, yet the title presents something that should be in the accidents section.

zero, I think he posted when there were no details other than the route was closed.
Condolences to friends, family, and climbing partners.

I'm so sorry to hear about the death despite the immediate response of park personnel. Condolences to his family
