Typically, most races wont allow for a relay if there is not that option at registration. However, given the motivation behind the running, I feel as though they may be inclined to allow it. If you click on the link below you will find the contact for the race director. I would recommend emailing or calling him and discussing the issue.

But remember! The race is months from now which gives a lot of time for preparation. Think of how amazing it will be to finish something you never considered yourself capable of. Rob would be proud and from what I've heard of him... would probably encourage you to push your limits!

Dan and I will definitely be running the marathon. I'll also be running the 100 for Rob in August. I promised him I would finish it next year and I won't let him down.

I am giving the heavy-half serious consideration. I was already looking at Mt Evans Ascent, Kendall Mt Run, and the Pikes Peak Ascent next summer, so something may have to go.

Fletch, you run 10 min miles in a half that gains/loses 3700'? I may have to start a very-slow group. :-D

Very interested, but don't think I can swing it this year as I'm projected to be a first time dad a few days before the race. :-D

If anyone does any fundraising for this (rescue groups, etc...) please let me know as I'd chip in for that.

I've never been a runner, but over this summer, seeing Rob's TR's, Homie and Eric's endurance feats have motivated me and I'm now signed up for my first half marathon in a couple weeks (and first organized run event ever). Was toying with trying for the Leadville Marathon to tick it off my bucketlist... Please let me know if there is anyway an outsider can help!

James, your pace sounds about good to me - especially in the mountains, and for 15+ miles! We can head up (or trail behind) the slow group :-D

I'm on board for a half... what gives you the idea, James, that it's only you and Annie in for half? I'll be in the slow group - a 10 minute mile is a good start.

Time for the next great losing streak to begin.

Keeping a 10 minute mile in this race, you'd place near last year's top finishers. When accounting for the terrain, altitude, and elevation gain/loss, the average running pace [for trail running] tends to be slower than that of normal "road running."

Great idea to use this opportunity as a fundraiser! I setup a fundraiser webpage for donations to go to MRA.You can send this link to friends/family to make a donation online and the funds will go directly to MRA. The project is called Run For Rob: Leadville Trail Marathon.

I will gladly suffer through the heavy half in memory of Rob. See you there!

Please let me know if I can be of any assistance to the runners/supports who are attending (time, car ride, food, whatever)
